Pacific Time Zone Area Codes: From Seattle to San Diego

The Pacific Time Zone runs down the entire West Coast of the US and Canada. Here's a complete overview of the area codes in California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.

The West Coast Time Zone

The Pacific Time Zone (UTC-8 in winter, UTC-7 in summer) covers the entire US and Canadian West Coast — the most economically productive stretch of coastline in North America. From British Columbia through Washington, Oregon, and down the length of California to the Mexican border, Pacific Time is home to tech giants, entertainment studios, major ports, and some of the most populous metropolitan areas on the continent.

Washington State's Six Codes

Washington's rapid tech-driven growth has produced six area codes. The Seattle metro alone is served by 206, 253, 425, and overlay 564. Eastern Washington uses 509, and the western non-Seattle region uses 360. See the full picture at Washington state area codes.

Oregon: Three Codes

Oregon uses 503 for the Portland metro, 971 as Portland's overlay, and 541 for the rest of the state — eastern Oregon, the coast, and southern Oregon.

California: The Most Complex Picture

California has more area codes than any other state, and most of them are in Pacific Time. The Bay Area alone uses 415 (San Francisco), 510 (East Bay), 408 (San Jose), 650 (Peninsula), and several overlays. Los Angeles County uses 213, 310, 323, 818, 747, and more. San Diego uses 619 and 858. See California area codes for the complete list.

British Columbia: Canada's Pacific Zone

British Columbia uses 604 (Vancouver metro) and 250 (the rest of BC), plus the 778 and 236 overlays that have been added to relieve pressure in the Vancouver area as the city has grown rapidly. See all Pacific Time codes at Pacific Time Zone.
